Jet ski aftermarket pipes

Category: Jet Ski

Aftermarket pipes will significantly improve a jet ski’s performance, especially two stroke versions. As with other two stroke engines the exhaust system can be the easiest way to gain a good amount of power. Whenever possible look for dyno graphs to decide which pipe that you will want. Compare this pipe to others, and don’t look only for the highest horsepower number that you can find. Many times the highest horsepower pipe has lost all of it’s low end torque, which can reduce acceleration significantly. Instead look for a pipe that keeps the torque or power comparable in the mid-range, yet has better top end power.

Even a good aftermarket pipe power curve may lose a small amount of power at the bottom of the curve, just above idle. All pipes are a compromise in shifting the power curve, but the best will gain almost everywhere. An aftermarket pipe will usually inject less water into the pipe to dry up the pipe. Dry pipes will make more top end power, but if the smaller hole plugs up it may burn up your rubber hose that runs between the pipe and muffler. Many manufacturers are reliable but always purchase by studying dyno graphs. Dyno comparisons in magazines are great unbiased material which will give you the best overall pipe for your jet ski. Installing an aftermarket pipe is usually not too bad. Usually a few bolts hold the pipe to the header manifold, then remove the rubber hose that connects it to the muffler. Install new pipe and enjoy the new power. Some pipe manufacturers will recommend a different impeller also, to compliment the power curve of the ski. A good improvement pipe may need this to run much faster.
